The final book in the trilogy was a challenge to write for several reasons. When I wrote The Button Boy it begins with you knowing Josiah, the button boy, is on his deathbed. I felt I got to the end of his story too fast. The story stopped just as his business was on the verge of expansion and there were many unanswered questions about Johannes and Berta Schmidt and Josiah's wife, Emelia. This is what prompted books two and three.

Book three is split between telling what lead to Josiah's...

Just wanted to let my readers know about this:

I can give you the title, but that's it. The title is Under the Broccoli Canopy, and will be a young adult/fantasy novel. I think it's pretty sweet. I hope to have it released by year end.

If you sign up for email notifications, I can keep you posted with details.

When I wrote book one, The Button Boy, I had no idea there would be a book two or a book three. With book one finished, there were just too many ends hanging. Johannes and Berta deserved their own story and I felt a prequel was in order.

Writing this book was prompted knowing a bit about my own father's background. He was German and his family immigrated to America in the late 1800's. Johannes and Berta's story in America is loosely based on the struggles my parents had as newlyweds.

Hello, Dear Reader!

My debut novel, The Button Boy, was written to challenge myself to finish a book from three words. The words came to me one morning and stuck with me; it was as if someone was trying to put a title in my head and urging me to do something with it. At the time, I wanted to take up writing again after a ten year hiatus, and decided I would, and do something with those words. What transpired were words coming out on paper that I never dreamed I had in me that needed saying.

Hello!

For the last month I'm working on a new writing project. It is still unnamed, but I should have a title soon.

The book will be fiction about the trials and tribulations of life in the forest. The book will be based on a book of poems I wrote 15 years ago for family and friends but was never published. I've decided to enhance it into story form.

It's the story of the ups and downs of the plants and animals of the forest ... their happiness, sadness, and fears. I'm gearing the book to the...

First blog post on my new website. Yippee! Sales have been on the slow side

Sales have been on the slow side and it has been disheartening. But, I'm a big girl, and I picked myself up and got busy. One of my bad features is being an introvert. That is hampering my ability to sell my books as I can't get myself to go into bookstores and talk about myself. But I knew that going into writing. I'm doing the best I can with social media.

I am currently on Facebook (Author Barbara Peterson), X (I_choose_light), Instagram (Barbara Peterson), and Pinterest under my name. My...
