I'm working on the next book in the Under the Broccoli Canopy series and having the best time writing it. I want the series to all be stories of animals' lives in the forest. In the original book you were introduced to a plethera... plethora--there, got it right--of animals including a black bear, cardinals, moles, rabbits, deer, etc. In this second book, I'm concentrating on one tiny animal family and all their escapades. I don't want to spoil it by telling you the animal but it wouldn't be hard for you to figure it out if you follow my social media posts.
I'm having a blast with the story and it's one crazy life these animals are living. I don't know where it's all coming from but I'm actually living through these creatures. I've become one with them and can almost see and feel what they're going through. That is what I want the series to be about; the reader is witnessing life through the eyes of the animals. Maybe in a past life, I was a--oops, almost told you--but I doubt it. My head is just too full of weirdness and the more I write, the more the weirdness seems possible and comes out.
My husband and sons told me these books are weird. I don't care, I'm continuing with them without their approval. My wish is that a small group of people out there will 'get me.' Nobody knows what animals think or feel, but we can imagine.
I'm losing the point of this post. I wanted to ask you what some of your favorite woodland animals are, or even your least favorite. I'm getting character ideas together for book three and it would be fun to have your input. Now, I know you can't respond to this from by this website (I've asked for that feature, but no luck yet), but you are invited to email me or respond via X, Instagram, or Author Barbara Peterson on Facebook on any of my posts. Do you have a story idea you'd like to see me run with? If I use it (with your permission, of course) I'll acknowledge your assistance and send you a free book upon publication.
Thanks for checking in with me. I'll talk to you again soon.
